Photographs, Historical Lithographs & Prints
The collection of original lithographs and reproductions dates back to the 18th century offering views of colonial Jamaica. In 1990, Mrs. Valerie Facey and the Mill Press, in celebration of the company’s 25-year milestone of incorporation, published a bound copy of 21 drawings of James Hakewill’s ‘A picturesque tour of the island of Jamaica from drawings made in the years 1820-1821’. Complimenting these works are Franz Marzouca’s photographs documenting the colonial railway stations built in 1845 and abandoned in 1992. Jamaica was the second British colony after Canada to receive a railway system.
